Everyday Makeup Basics

Hello lovelies! I know for me, I don't always have time to do a full face of makeup, on those days I reach for my most important makeup products. Here is a round up of my makeup basics:

Concealer - If you're prone to blemishes and spots like me, than concealer is, or will be, one of your best friends. Whether it's spots, dark circles, bags, redness, or lines concealer is my first step. It can also be really good at brightening under your eyes (ex. the Kim Kardashian triangle). My favourite concealer is MAC Pro Longwear.

Powder - My T zone can become very oily throughout the day so I almost never leave without putting on powder. It keeps oil under control and will help keep your makeup in place for longer. The Rimmel Stay Matte powder is awesome, very budget friendly as well!

Mascara - Does anyone really feel ready to take on the world without a little bit of mascara? (I don't think so) Mascara is the easiest way to open up your eyes and give your lashes extra life. I love a lot of mascaras, but at the moment I'm obsessed with the Lash Sensational.

R-L, Pink Lemonade, Juicy Papaya
Tinted Lip Balm - If I'm in a rush and just want to add a little colour to my face a tinted lip balm is what I reach for. I don't always want the boldness of a lipstick so a balm with colour is great for those days! It's more natural and is moisturising. Revlon's Juicy Papaya is my favourite.

Foundation - This is at the bottom of the list because sometimes you don't need to cover up your whole face, sometime all you need is a bit of concealer. But, on the flip side, you may not need concealer and you just want to even your skin tone a bit; in this case a little foundation will do the trick! Rimmel Wake Me Up is a great drug store foundation (it is quite dewy and has a slight shimmer).

Those are the 4 (5) makeup basics that are the bare necessities for me. When I'm having a light makeup day, or I just don't have the time, these are the only products I'm reaching for!

Ciao for now,
Madeline

Fall Music

If you're like me than there are certain artists/albums/genres of music that "go" with a specific time of year. Today is the first day that really feels like fall so I thought I'd share my number one "fall" artist - James Bay. I first started listening to him last October/November so maybe that's why I consider him to be very autumnal. Anyway, some may disagree but that's just what I think! So, if you're looking for some new music to get you going for the start of school through to Christmas, give him a listen!

Here's a list of some of my favourites off his album Chaos and the Calm:
-Let It Go
-Running
-Incomplete
-Hold Back the River
-Best Fake Smile

Ciao for now!

It's Madeline

Hello Lovelies, welcome to Stylized! This blog is run by myself and my friend, Sophie. We both love fashion and beauty and decided to create a platform to share our ideas, tips and inspirations. Now, before we embark on this fabulous blog adventure together I thought I'd share a few things about myself!

-I am a Film & Television Production student, I'm a movie buff and TV junkie
-I want to travel the world, there is so much you can learn by experiencing different cultures
-I am a self confessed shoe lover. I am obsessed with shoes. When you find the perfect pair of shoes, buy them right then and there, don't walk away - I speak from experience

Okay, lets get a little deeper! Sophie and I thought that we would share 5 things we can't live without, here's mine:

1. Chapstick

I am one of those people who always, always, always has a lip balm with them. When I don't have one for some crazy reason you can bet on it that I'll be a bit grumpy.

2. My Jean Jacket

My jean jacket is a staple, I wear it all the time! It is an item I believe every girl needs, find a good one that fits right and you feel good in and you are good to go for years!

3. Vichy Normaderm cleanser

I swear by this stuff! I've been using it for over two years and I haven't had any problems. Don't get me wrong, I still have breakouts like everyone else, but this cleanser makes my skin 10x better.

4. My Computer

There, I said it, I have put an electronic device on this list. It's true, my computer is my sidekick, it is also the best way to load Netflix.

5. Hair Elastics and Bobby Pins

When you have crazy wild frizzy hair like me, you never know what each day will bring. When I'm having a bad hair day and even my straightener can't sort things out those little things we always seem to lose can save the day!

...

6. Sophie

Thank you for letting me burn your hair and get hair spray on your face! Here's to going on a Serena and Blair adventure with this blog (not so much the drama part, but the shopping and spontaneity part).

Alright, that's it for now! I can't wait to really get this blog going and for you to come along with us!

Ciao for now,

Madeline

Hello from Sophie

Hello everyone!

I am Sophie and one of the wonderful co-founders of this blog. I'm very excited that I get to start this project with one of my best friends and that you get to witness our shenanigans in the process.

Just a bit about me;
- I am currently studying History at the University of Toronto
- I am a travel junkie, I will go anywhere at anytime (as long as it doesn't interfere with school, because that's mucho important) but I mean it, I am ready to go at a moments notice, so if any of you want to take me on a trip, just let me know
- I want to be a lawyer and work for the UN and wow NYC with my wit and fashion sense

In order for you guys to get to know myself and Madeline a bit better, we decided our first post would be 5 things we can't live without so here goes nothing

1. "How to be Parisian Wherever You Are" - Anne Berest, Audrey Diwan, Caroline de Maigret and Sophie Mas

This book is literally the best thing to happen to the world since the invention of Nutella. Also, it has truly taught me that I am essentially Parisian and therefore wonderful (as all women are)

2. My leather Roots backpack

For all of you who don't know, Roots is a Canadian company with some of the best quality leather I have seen. It is so durable and fits like 10kg of clothing for when your suitcase is too heavy, been there, done that, great time.

3. Red Lipstick

Not just any red lipstick, the MAKE UP FOR EVER Rouge Artist Intense #43. Every woman needs a shade of red lipstick that she can rock, this is my shade. There's just something about red lipstick that is so inspiring and makes me feel so sexy and strong. If you do not have "your" shade, please go buy one and feel kickass.

4.  My phone

I hate to say this, I really do, but I would be so lost without my phone, I have everything on there and its all synced with my computer. I feel very efficient with it because I am but I hate the fact that I would be lost without it.

5. "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" - Julia Child

Bow down to the queen. Forget Beyonce, Julia Child is my queen. The recipes are tedious and time consuming and can be difficult but she's laid it out for you so simply that its incredible. Also, the woman loved butter and it shows in her recipes because everything I have made, melts in your mouth.  There is no cook book better than this one.

So there you have it, 5 things I can not live without, I just wanted to add one more thing

6. Madeline

Thank you for supporting me, listening to me, curling my hair and promising to beat up anyone who hurts me. I would be lost without you and I can't think of anyone better to start a blog with. May we continue to stand up for each other, empower each other and bake more delicious cookies with each other.

That is all for my corniness and babbling. I hope to hear from you all soon!

Lots of love,

Sophie
